Keanu Reeves… What more can i say… Its been ages since speed, matrix and pointbreak… but he seems to play the roles of the FBI agents or law enforcement officers as this movie is all about that genre…
It starts off really slow, all over the place like you are thrown into this world and you have no idea whats really going on. He is playing the character of a high level unit member but it seems that everyone is out for number one… team is not team if you do things alone… as in the first raid we see him take down a group of asian criminals all by himself and that seemed quite weird… but as the movie gets going you realise that thats how the unit works and then the others all back you up with things that appear to have happened but didn’t…
Its all about the mind and how you see things, if you open your eyes you will see exactly whats going on… thats like the moto behind this movie.
It starts slow and then picks up near the middle right to the end, it throws all kinds of things together and makes you think what happened? but you do kinda feel like you get the drift of it at the end.
Personally i was expecting more of a Gang vs Gang kinda movie but it fell short and was all about the corruption of people in power and what they do to protec their own.
Its good but not great, failed to capture my attention as it was slow starting and kinda gloomy and doomy as keanu’s character is hard to read from the start. He comes across a lone ranger type but you have no idea why and they really dont go into too much detail about it and it leaves u wondering.
The one character i did like was Detective Paul Diskant ( Chris Evans), he kinda made up for the bad parts… (plus he was HOT!!!)
My verdict: 3/5

I didn’t know where this movie was going throughout, there seemed to be no plot as such. But that didn’t matter as there were heaps of gun scenes and some dramatic bullet riddling.
I liked the gritty start- corrupt vice cop making himself look like the hero. He seemed ruthless and bitter from his experience. His team were relaxed but seemed stunned by his loose cannon ways. Bit of a spin, when that turned around and nobody was who you thought they were. It gave you a taste of the tough side of LA and how nobody is untouchable, even gangsters.
Keanu Reeves knows how to do the bad guy/hero part well with a hint of bitterness. Try and take note of the characters names, otherwise at the finale when its all revealed you may still not know who the villians really are.
3/5
